Module 3: Curse of Icewind Dale - Ice Wind Dale

First, to unlock the Icewind Dale campaign you are required to be level 60 and to have unlocked the third boon from either Sharandar or the Dread ring. You can get the third boon from The Dread Ring campaign faster.

There is a fastidious introduction involving a lot of talking and walking from protector enclave to Caer-Konig. If you aren't sure what needs to be done next, read the quest carefully, pay attention to your quest's trail and look on your map to see your objectives. If you don't know what to do, rest assured our best friend Google can provide you with pictures of your objectives. It can easily take an hour just to get prepared for the second day, when you will actually start the dailies in the Icewind Pass zone.

About the campaign itself, you should consider unlocking ''Explore the Dwarven Valley'' first to get the second zone and new dailies unlocked. Then you want to consider getting ''Hook, Line, and Sinkers 1-2'' in the campaign to unlock a quest called ''Attack On Koenig'', it's a mini dungeon in which you may sometime find a yeti that drops a piece of yeti meat that can be exchanged for a chance at a yeti companion. You may find between 200-475 black ice and sometime rank 4-5 enchantments in the chest at the end of it as well.

There are 2 factions: the ''Ten-Towners'' and the ''Arcane Brotherhood'' which will give you different random dailies depending on which faction you join. At any moment, you can change factions to join the other. If you only want to get through the campaign, don't care about the black ice gears sets or PvP and just want to get your boons and get it done; all you really need to care about is to do the main quest from the faction leaders. In fact, to complete the campaign, your main focus should be doing one of the two main dailies every day for 36 days: ''Needless Distration'' or ''Safe-Keeping''. Both of them will give you 10 coins and reputation points upon completion. You also need: at least 51 ''Auril's Tear'' (You may obtain 1 per quest you achieve in the icewind pass zone), 68 ''Dwarf Gold'' (You may obtain 1 per quest you achieve in the dwarven valley zone) and 850 ''Konig Coins'' (You may obtain enough of them by trading about 4250 ''Kessel's sigils'' to the bounty master).

If you are interested in the PvP campaign, there is a random daily given that you may do in either Icewind Pass or Dwarven Valley's PvP zones. There are several achievements to gain in the PvP campaign from these subzones. You can also happen upon a special encounter that appears randomly there, very similar to what we find in Domination PvP 5 man with 3 control nodes. Completing that encounter 50 times, PvP weekly 7 times and the daily PvP 45 times is each worth an achievement.

If you intend to build at least one Black Ice set and to have some ice to empower and fill your gears; you need at least 70-80 k refined black ice. Just doing the dailies and the weekly will get you there without the need for mining. You get done with the campaign in 36 days, but I personally just kept doing the dailies a while to farm enough ice. If you’re looking for achievements completing XXX45 quests of each faction grants you one. It takes around 10-15 minutes per zones to do these campaign's dailies once you optimize.

There are several random quests given every day. If you want to optimize you need to memorize the locations of each quest’s objectives. You want to consider aiming for zones where you may complete several objectives at once if you want to be efficient.

Three of the armour set pieces (all excluding bracers), as well as the offhand, can be bought from a vendor in Caer-Konig. The remaining two parts of the black ice gear cannot be obtained from the shop. The bracers need to be dropped from a reward for a random encounter in Icewind Pass and the main hand weapon from an encounter in the Dwarven Valley; if either of the items drops it is guaranteed to be for the class you are currently playing. The odds are better on bigger encounters and to increase them further you should try to achieve a “Great Success”; to do that you need to deal, heal or receive enough damage during an encounter. Even then, if you are unlucky, it can take hundreds of encounters for the items to drop. The same encounters can also drop purple gear pieces for a random class as well as crafting components required to transform black ice gear into the corrupted or purified version. Keep in mind that the artifact weapon from the Tyranny of Dragons campaign is visibly superior to the black ice weapon, even considering the set bonus for the black ice weapons miniset.Assuming you do it optimally it takes about 36 days to finish this campaign.
